How We Share Personal Information

We may disclose for business purposes all of the categories of personal information described above with the following categories of third parties:

  • Online services. If you use our website, or social media properties that we operate or any services provided through them (collectively, "online services"), we use your general identifiers, online identifiers, internet activity information (as described above) and other information that you submit through the online services for:

  • Hosting and events. If you register for our events, we use your general identifiers, online identifiers, food allergy information and commercial information (as described above) to fulfill your registration requests, communicate with you about the event, and to host you at the events. If you visit our offices, we collect your name and organizational affiliation to register and host you.

  • Research and development. We may use your general identifiers, online identifiers, internet activity information, and commercial information (as described above) for research and development purposes, including to analyze and improve our client services, online services, events, and our business. As part of these activities, we may create aggregated, de-identified, or other anonymous data from personal information we collect. We make personal information into anonymous data by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to you. We may use this anonymous data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes.

  • Marketing. We may use your general identifiers, online identifiers, internet activity information, and commercial information (as described above) in connection with sending you marketing communications and advertisements as permitted by law, including by mail and email.   • Compliance and protection. We may use any of the categories of personal information described above for other purposes consistent with the California Notice or that are explained to you at the time of collection of your personal information.

  • Service providers. Companies that provide us with services that help us provide services or operate our business, such as IT and software services, mailing services, marketing services, event management services, eDiscovery services, cybersecurity services, and office security services.

  • Government authorities, law enforcement, and others. Government authorities, law enforcement, courts, and others as described in the compliance and protection section above.

  • Transaction participants. Parties to transactions and potential transactions for the sale, transfer or licensing of a portion or all of our business or assets, including your personal information, such as a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, or in the event of bankruptcy or dissolution.

 Profiling and Use of Deidentified Data

We do not use Sensitive Personal Information to infer characteristics about consumers. We may create profiles based on non-sensitive Personal Information to draw inferences about personal interests order to provide advertisements, promotions and other marketing communications that are relevant to Consumers. To the extent we or our Service Providers process deidentified information, we will maintain and use the information in deidentified form and will not attempt to reidentify the information unless permitted by applicable law.

Exercising Your Rights

California Consumers have the following rights under the CPRA:

  • The rights to access, correct, or delete Personal Information;

  • The right to limit the use of Sensitive Personal Information in certain circumstances; and

  • The rights to opt out of the sharing of Personal Information for behavioral advertising, sales of Personal Information, or certain profiling.

After submitting your request online, you will receive a follow-up email, which may include a link you must click on in order to verify your identity. We will respond to your rights request within 45 days, though in certain cases we may inform you that we will need up to another 45 days to act on your request. Sales of Personal Information

The CPRA defines a “sale” as the exchange of Personal Information to a third party for money or anything of value. We do not sell Personal Information for monetary consideration, but in certain situations, our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties may constitute a sale under CPRA. You can opt out of the sale of your Personal Information by submitting a rights request as described above.

Behavioral Advertising

The CPRA defines “sharing” as disclosing Personal Information to a third party for behavioral advertising, sometimes referred to as “targeted advertising.” An example of this is displaying advertisements to a consumer where the advertisement is selected based on Personal Information obtained from that consumer's activities over time and across nonaffiliated websites or online applications to predict such consumer's preferences or interests. We share some Personal Information for behavioral advertising. You can opt out of the sharing of your Personal Information for behavioral advertising by submitting a rights request as described above.

Limiting the Use of Sensitive Personal Information

The CPRA provides a right to limit some uses of Sensitive Personal Information. In particular, you may direct companies not to use Sensitive Personal Information except as necessary to provide goods or services you have requested. You may submit a request to limit the use of your sensitive Personal Information by submitting a rights request as described above.

Authorized Agent Requests

The CPRA allows you to designate an authorized agent to make a rights request on your behalf. Your authorized agent may submit such a request by following the same method described above. We may require verification of your authorized agent in addition to the information for verification above for Consumers and households. We will review the information provided and may request additional information to ensure we are interacting with the correct individual. Please also be aware that making any such request does not ensure complete or comprehensive removal or deletion of personal information or content you may have posted, and there may be circumstances in which the law does not require or allow us to fulfill your request.

Exceptions

We may deny certain requests, or fulfill a request only in part, based on our legal rights and obligations. This Privacy Notice (“State Privacy Notice”) applies to information we collect online and offline from or about Virginia residents who use our website. This State Privacy Notice does not apply to our personnel, job applicants, or other individuals acting in a commercial or employment context.

This State Privacy Notice uses certain terms that have the meaning given to them in the applicable laws and implementing regulations in Virginia. Date of applicability of the applicable regulations may vary across states.

We may process the categories of personal information listed in the Information Collection section of our Privacy Policy and in the Categories of Personal Information We Collect section of the California Privacy Notice.  

Purposes for which Personal Information is collected 

We may process the personal information we collect about you for the purposes listed in the Information Usage and Sharing sections of our Privacy Policy.  

Sharing of Personal Information: 

We share the following categories of your Personal Information with the categories of third parties listed in the Information Sharing section of our Privacy Policy and the How We Share Personal Information section in the California Privacy Notice: 

  • Contact information and other information provide to us (including your name, email address, physical address, shipping address, telephone number).

We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the rights that are provided to you under applicable law. We do not conduct profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant affects for consumers. To the extent we process deidentified information, we will maintain and use the information in deidentified form and will not attempt to reidentify the information unless permitted by applicable law.
