My neighbor thinks I only need to order a new motor as it will have the parts (cables) with it. I think I need the regulator. Who is right? Show Less

Shopping for Chevrolet Avalanche 2500 Parts

From the looks of Chevrolet Avalanche, you know that it will drive up to the old tag line used by its maker, General MotorsThe Mark of Excellence. This full-size pickup truck is a real buff with its cargo bed and spacious five- or six-seater cabin constructed over a long wheel-base chassis. Practical car owners will both love its cargo and passenger capacity, making it perfect for long family trips. And if other trucks lack the comfort and offer noise instead of quietness, Avalanche offers just the right comfort that wouldn't stress out even the kids. Some criticize it for poor mileage, but that is hardly the case when you keep maintenance schedule on the right track. Your Chevrolet Avalanche can be your travel buddy for more years to come by doing the right maintenance such as:

  • Get rid of brake dust.

Well, it can be a bit tempting to ignore brake dust, but it can cause real trouble when it gets in the way of the performance of your brakes. The brake pads naturally wear out whenever you hit the brake pedal, and brake dust is probably burnt into the wheels. When it rains or moisture comes in, that dust will turn into nasty, stubborn dirt. That is why it is highly important that you clean brake dust whenever you do your daily maintenance regime. Getting rid of it on a regular basis will not only keep the wheels looking nice and new but also lengthen their service life.

  • Make sure your truck has enough tire pressure.

Probably one of the easiest maintenance care you could give your vehicle is a weekly check of the tire pressure. Others don't take it seriously since the need for extra tire pressure can be easily noticed and fixed. Weekly checkup, though, will not only prevent unnecessary hassle of having to add air to your tires right before hitting the road, especially when you're in a hurry, but also protect your wheels from early damage and save you from unwanted cost. Furthermore, proper tire pressure helps improve fuel economy. You sure get to save a great deal of time and money by diligently following this maintenance step.

  • Check your tire tread depth.

Aside from the tire pressure, the depth of your tire tread must also be checked during maintenance. Without the right tire tread depth, road trips will be a real hazard because the tires will not be able to provide your vehicle with traction effectively. Remember that bald tires are no good for heavy-duty trucks, especially when they are carrying heavy load. On most occasions, the heavy load would put more pressure on the tires, posing the danger of explosion. In that case, you won't have any choice but to put on new tires, and worse you might also need a new wheel. So make sure to check your tire tread depth before you hit the road.

  • Never drive your truck with a faulty engine belt.

Your engine belt is not an accessory that you can drive without. It is actually one of the most important maintenance items that contribute largely to the performance of your engine. So when you start to notice cracks on your engine belt, deal with them right away. And again, don't ever attempt to drive your truck with a faulty belt because when this fails, your engine can die shortly after.
