Pontiac Solstice Car Cover: Care Instructions
A car cover protects your Pontiac Solstice from Ultra Violet rays, dust, scratches, and other environmental factors that can do small but serious damage to your precious ride. While you want to keep your car looking showroom fresh, you might also want to take a good look at that certain piece of accessory that takes the fall for your car. Yes, while the car cover is disposable, that is not a reason to neglect its needs when it comes to maintenance. Proper use and care prolongs the lifespan of the cover, thus, serving you and your car for a longer period of time. Read on.

The car cover should not be washed using a commercial washing machine with an agitator. This will ruin the water repellant material that swathes the accessory-worse, it will rip and tear the car cover into bits. Also, use warm water when washing; without proper supervision, cold water causes polymer acrylic fiber to brittle. The material will start chipping off eventually when it is washed with cold water frequently.
During installation, make sure that the car cover does not come in contact with hot exhaust pipes. Not only will it burn the material, it can even be a fire hazard when neglected. Also, there is a proper way to remove and fold the car cover. When installed unto the car, release both of its ends from under the bumper and continue folding them alternately until the car cover rests on top of the vehicle like a long pile of approximately 60-centimeters wide.
As stated above, the car cover is made of fabric; therefore, it poses real flammable threats. For your safety, do not store the car cover near heat-producing appliances. Also, if you are not going to use the car cover for a long time, it is highly advisable to spread it out on an open area secured by weights. If the cover sits folded for a long time-and in extremely cold climates to make it worse-the fold creases will eventually become brittle and the acrylic material will chip off or tear.
