The good news is I got it to work. The bad news is it took some modification to make that happen. The rigid cross brace arm that connects the two parts that the wipers attach to hit a hump in the car body. It looked to me like it was possibly installed backwards. I removed the cross brace, it's held on with 4 bolts, two on each side. By flipping it over and bolting it back on I was able to get it to fit properly. I had to use slightly longer bolts to attach it. I would have sent it back but didn't want to put my wife's car back together with the old faulty part with rain in the forecast. There's clearly something wrong with the design of this brace for use on a 2002 Acura RSX.
