The motor mount opening is round on the part but the factory motor shaft has flats on either side for alignment of the part. Getting the wiper transmission in the correct position is important to avoid damage to the vehicle from wipers over traveling. Since the part is a friction fit to prevent spinning it is important to get it right before tightening the screws all the way. The part needs to be installed into the vehicle and aligned and then removed and tightened. It's a bit of a hassle to install but the part has worked through several rain storms without any issues.
