Material : AcrylicYes, window visors are really effective at keeping the rain out while you drive at moderate speed with your windows a bit open. However, manufacturers do not make them standard features because they are aware that not everybody wants a ride with window visors installed. Also, there are people who don’t want to drive with windows open, so they surely won’t find any use for window visors. These add-ons may not also be practical for car owners who park in a covered and secure garage and have no need to keep the windows partially open while the vehicle is parked.
You must never do that even when your windows are a bit open. You see, the sun’s heat can be merciless especially during summer, and any ride parked under the direct heat of the sun can get so hot to a point that it becomes lethal trap for pets. Window visors help ensure proper cabin ventilation, but this isn’t an assurance that they will keep your pet safe against the hazardous effects of the sun.
There are some in-channel window deflectors that come with tape—a 3M double-sided foam tape that’s automotive-grade, so it's super strong. In-channel visors outfitted with such tape should be installed the way regular in-channel units are mounted in place, but you shouldn’t peel away the protective backing until final installation. Make sure to test-fit the visors first before removing the backing because the tape can be very difficult to remove once it sticks in the window surface. You still need to slide the visor’s thin flange in the door’s upper window channel. Once you’re sure about its fit on the channel, that’s the only time you should peel the tape’s backing away and tuck the flange into the channel. The tape secures the visor in place rather than just relying on the tension between the flange and the window channel.
Driving at high speed with your windows open will surely bring noise and turbulence even if your GMC is fitted with window visors. But if you’re just driving moderately, either in the city or country road, and you lower the windows to catch fresh air, then you can count on your window visors to minimize wind noise and turbulence.
Check the label or the instructions that come with the stick-on window visor. It must specify the exact period you have to wait until you can wash your vehicle or expose it to water after window visor installation. If it doesn’t come with such information, just make sure to have your vehicle washed before installing the visor. This won’t just keep you from washing the vehicle after installation, but doing so will also help ensure cleaner mounting surface, therefore promoting better adhesion of the visor’s tape.
This can be fixed using a spray adhesive that’s made to instantly seal cracks and leaks once sprayed on the surface. Make sure, however, that the spray adhesive you’ll get is safe for use on the type of material your GMC visor is made from.
It pays to follow the instructions that are usually printed on the spray adhesive can or dispenser. In case there’s none, here’s a tip: when spraying, make sure the applicator is 6 to 8 inches away from the window visor to totally saturate it. Let the adhesive dry for 1 to 2 hours before putting the visor back into place.
