Direct replacement. Unbolted the old ones and bolted in the new ones. Only problem was shipping, which took 3 weeks to get here. I saw from tracking that they toured the country to get here.

GOOD REPLACEMENT PART. BUT AFTER YOU INSTALL THE LIFT TO THE BRACKETS THERE IS NO WAY TO GET IT BACK OFF (THIS IS JUST LIKE THE ORIGINAL). THERE ARE DETACHABLE/REPLACEABLE LIFTS AVAILABLE.

Very Happy With These Struts
My liftgate works like a charm now. Not only do they hold up the liftgate, they lift the gate "automatically" once the latch is released. I had forgotten all about the nearly hands-free lifting and didn't realize how much I missed it! I had read some reviews that the liftgate was difficult to close with these struts installed, but I didn't experience that problem at all. Yes, some pressure is required now to close the gate, but that's to be expected. I'm very happy with these struts.
