Customer Reviews

Taking the old pump off is somewhat easy if you know what your doing. with my 2000...just a flat head screw driver and a hammer will do the trick. First have to bend the little lips back then tap it in the direction it unlocks the ring. Love that you dont have to drop the tank to get to it. Always do it yourself, if you cant...have a friend do it. Saves time and money.

Removal of old unit is extremely difficult but this is a vehicle manufacturer issue. GM should be ashamed and have a recall on their original unit. The enclosed flyer with the new unit and wiring harness indicates an ongoing problem from 1988-2005 models. Replacement of a fuel pump at 20,000 miles is uncalled for and dealers want $800 to do the job. CHANGE THE WIRING HARNESS - Shrink wrap the new connections. DIY hint: Spray silicone around outside of hold down ring along the ring edge and wait an hour to allow easier removal of the ring.
