Customer Reviews

Part worked well on the rear hatch area. Easy to access by removing screws off of bottom of hatch interior panel, two screws under center light and popping off the hatch cover clips. One electrical clip and two metric bolts was all there was to the installation. It took 15 minutes. Part worked well and I have had no problems since the installation.

Rear, Driver Or Passenger Side Door Lock Actuator
Rear Hatch Door Lock Actuator for 2000 Grand Carav
My rear hatch locking mechanism was somewhat fouled because I live on a dirt road with lots of dust. The actuator had failed due to friction in the mechanism from the dirty roads. I replaced the actuator with this new one as well as spraying lots of WD-40 on the locking mechanism to loosen it up. I sprayed it in from left to right through the opening where the metal locking hook (to the actuator) extends from the mechanism. I first opened the rear hatch and removed three Phillips screws from the lower driver's side internal plastic trim panel. Then pulled it down slightly to access the actuator. From there I could see the actuator as well as where to spray the WD-40. Everything is working now and the new actuator performs like the original did before the dust problem destroyed it. Installation is easy if you have a minimal amount of patience and can handle a Phillips screwdriver and small socket wrench with a 10mm socket. The new part performs just like the original. I would recommend this part to anyone who has a Grand Caravan with a similar problem. Also, don't force the electrical connector, pull it out carefully wiggling it sideways using a small screwdriver to release the two teeny plastic retaining hook/springs on the female connector from the itty-bitty retaining post. If you get stuck, sit back, have a beer, and then go at it again. If you're not a mechanic (as I am not), take your time, try to do it right, and things usually work out. Wheels are good!
