Good Price, Good Mechanical Fit, No More Cat Error Code
I purchased this because of the good price and good online reviews. I was glad to see that the parts are made in the USA, which gives me more confidence regarding quality of the catalyst. It was assembled in the Philippines. The quality of the welds was decent but not great. I replaced both the front and rear cats on my BMW X3 with M54 engine. Fit at the exhaust port was perfect. The alignment of the exhaust pipe coupling was not perfect and required some persuasion to get aligned for both pipes but I would not consider it a big issue. After installation I performed the 'break in' procedure as described in the video (warm up for 5 min, run at 2500 rpm for 2 minutes, let fully cool before driving). This produced a fair amount of smoke from the exhaust manifold for several minutes. After letting the engine cool overnight there was no more smoke. The engine ran fine and the cat code has not returned after driving over 100 miles.
