I have a new carb for a F134, M38A1, 1953 Willy’s but the dip stick will not pull out due to fuel inlet being just above it. Which carb is the RIGHT ONE TO USE ?A shopperOct 29, 2020
Best Answer:Hi, The F134 has 75hp for the 4 Cylinder engine also known as L134. M38A1 was the first vehicle to feature the round fender design. The carburetor measures 6 5/8 in. from the base. Please double-check the measurement. But, based on our application guide, this carburetor you have chosen is guaranteed to fit the year range of 1949-1953 Jeep Willys CJ-3 4 Cyl 2.2Lwith an L-HEAD design.

Customer Reviews

Have not been able to see if it works yet. This was said to be delivered on Wednesday then moved to Friday and I then got it the following Thursday. Bolted up but fuel line connection does not match. Went to 4 suppliers and could not find adapters. Called company and was told I had to call Crown. Crown says had never heard of that problem before , get some brake line parts to match up and I bought some but have not been able to try retrofit.

Carburetor 1946-1953 Jeep Willys L4 2.2L Engine
Ok Carburetor but NOT Original Equipment
I bought this carburetor for my 1948 Willys-Overland Jeep Truck with the original L134 engine. It said "OE Replacement." It is not. To what I can tell all US L134 engines from this time frame had "Carter" Carburetors. Ones going overseas, primarily to France, were modified with the "Solex" carburetors. This is a Solex type carburetor. It will do the job, and do it well, but you do not have original connections for spark advance, the choke is not an air diverting device like we are use to but a "fuel enrichment circuit" This could be a great carburetor for your Jeep, but be warned you will have to research and modify to make it work well. No Documentation or instructions in package and none available from manufacture or from Carstuff. When you get this you are totally on your own and you will be installing a non-OE part that requires modification. I can not in good conscience recommend this unit to anyone who does not have a mechanical educational or experience background. If you are an amateur mechanic you will want to be weary of this unit. Pros should have little problem and may like it better. In the end I did not keep this unit. I rebuilt the original Carter Carburetor and am much more satisfied with the rebuild 65 year old original equipment type carburetor over this “OE Replacement” unit.

This carb is nowhere near the right fit,I can't hook up the governor linkage, which in turn means I can't run the PTO. I can't transfer the old linkage to your carb so there is my rating 0.
