New part functions properly and resolved the issue. It did not fit the mounting point for the production point, so is held by one scree. Main concern there is that blower motor cover functions as a heat sink for the regulator, so poor contact could result in early failure. Had to snip some plastic off of car- side of electrical connector to get regulator connector to fit. This was installed on a 98 SL 500
