Hyundai shared photos of the Elantra N performance model prototype covered in camouflage, confirming the arrival of the four-door sedan that serves as the counterpart of the three-door Veloster N hot hatchback.

The model will be positioned on top of the N Line version, which currently delivers up to 201 horsepower from a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four engine. While it has not been confirmed yet, the upcoming Elantra N is expected to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four similar to the Veloster N. It is estimated to deliver up to 275 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque and will also likely offer a six-speed manual transmission and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.

In the spy photos, the sporty sedan noticeably has a more aggressive styling compared to N Line models. It comes with a large rear spoiler and body kit. Too, it’s expected to have a stiffer suspension, larger brakes, chassis upgrades, and bigger wheels wrapped in summer tires.

When it reaches dealerships in the United States, the Elantra N will go head-to-head with the Honda Civic Si and VW Jetta GLI, with the Hyundai being the most powerful of the three. Prices are not yet available, but it will likely be at the $30,000 range.

The Hyundai Elantra N is scheduled to arrive either at the end of 2021 or early 2022.
