I've been receiving a two fault codes saying p0012 (main one) and p0700  and when I'm going at high speed or just slowing down at a stop sign my car would lose power or my rpm would fluctuate and it would sometimes go into limp mode. I was wondering if this would be the cause in my situation. It's a 2006 530i and I'm the second owner who bought it around 60k. Ive never replaced them and am not aware of it being serviced before, but wanted to ask before buying and wasting money on it if it isn't or wouldn't cause these codes or issues typicaly. Any advice?ChrisApr 07, 2022
Best Answer:Hi Chris, I'm pleased to assist you. No, this solenoid is not the solution to the problem of your 2006 BMW 530i Base 6 Cyl 3.0L. Check engine light code P0012 means intake camshaft position timing solenoid is faulty. The P0700 code indicates that there's a malfunction with your vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM). We currently do not have in stock the Transmission Control Module (TCM). I suggest replacing the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors which you can check using the link below. It is at 15% off the regular price while supplies last. I hope this is helpful. Hi, my 2011 bmw x3 28i has the engine light on for the following two codes:  131508 Variable Camshaft timing Control (VANOS), intake, cold start, not controllable.        And      130108 VANOS, Inlet: control fault, position not reached.  * When I took it to bmw they gave me these two codes and a broad estimate of needing "vanos inlet gear". They won't say a part without me paying them over $1000 for their diagnoses scam they run. Please tell me what part(s) I need to buy to get this check engine light off/codes off? I asked for advise from the "advisor" person at bmw and told them my inspection sticker was expiring very soon so I need to get this engine light off and they said Id have to get it diagnosed right away and then they said it would be an even higher cost diagnoses then originally stated. There trying to take advantage of my situation. Please tell me what parts you think I need and I'm going to take them to a good mechanic I know to installKayley P.Jun 26, 2022
Best Answer:Hello! I suspect the intake vanos unit itself needs to be replaced. It is fairly common for the bolts to break. The $1000 is probably the price to R&R the valve cover, to verify the issue. Make sure whatever mechanic you go to has the proper tools for setting the cam timing!
