Chevrolet Avalanche Valance Troubleshooting

Your Chevrolet Avalanche is a rugged ride that's built tough. To enable it to brave all kinds of road and weather conditions, this outstanding ride comes equipped with sturdy materials and components. However, no matter how tough its parts may be, they're no match for Father Time. In fact, even the durable Chevrolet Avalanche valance is bound to give in to wear and tear sooner or later. Once worn out, this component, which surrounds the bumper in order to protect it and keep your ride looking stylish, won't look so hot. Plus, they might not serve their intended purpose if damaged to badly. So here are some troubleshooting tips for your vehicle valance.

Discoloring

Your rear valance can become discolored for a number of reasons, one of them being exhaust fumes. If your rear valance is discolored near the tail pipe area, then this is the result of exposure to the exhaust fumes released from the pipe. This isn't a very common problem, but it can happen nevertheless. If you'd like to prevent this problem from reoccurring, then you could have the tail pipe adjusted. On the other hand, you could simply use some good quality cleaner. If that doesn't do the trick and your valance remains discolored, then have it replaced.

Scratches or dents

You can tell if your valance is banged up simply by taking a look at it. If your valance has plenty of scratches and dents from parking lot mishaps or rough off-road driving, then your ride is bound to look less attractive. You could always try to smoothen out the dents to restore the look of your ride. However, should your valance be too broken to serve its function, then it's about time that you have it changed.

Clip damage

Your valance panels are connected to your ride using plastic clips. If these clips were to come loose or become damaged, then your valance would no longer be securely fastened to your vehicle. Examine your panels for loose clips or for gaps between it and the rest of the vehicle. These gaps should indicate the presence of loose or damaged clips.< /p>

The valance components of your auto are the panels that conceal the bottom corners of your vehicle. Found in the front and rear of an auto, the valance help keep your bumper protected against road debris and keeps your ride looking good. Unfortunately, the valance panels are bound to take a beating over time, resulting in a poor-looking vehicle. To counteract this problem, you should follow these helpful steps that will lead you towards proper Chevrolet Avalanche valance maintenance.

Check the panel connections.

Your valance panels are connected to your vehicle through the use of several plastic clips. These clips, however, can become worn out or damaged in the event of minor road mishaps. If these clips were to break, then the valance panel would no longer be securely connected to the vehicle body. If not taken care of or reattached, your valance could experience irreparable damage. In light of this, you should check for gaps between the panel and the vehicle body, as well and damaged clips, on a regular basis.

Keep the valance clean.

To help you properly maintain your valance, you should make an effort to clean it every once in a while. Getting rid of dust and debris using water and car shampoo is an easy way to keeping your valance looking good. In addition to that, you could try removing any rocks or pebbles that are lodged into the plastic valance. You may have to detach the valance from the vehicle to do so, but the actually removal of little nibs can easily be done using a sharp razor blade.

Observe for discoloring or damage.

You don't need to remove the valance panel just to be able to observe its condition. Just take a look at it with some good lighting and you'll be able to tell whether it's too damaged or not. If you venture on to rough roads on daily basis, then it should come as no surprise if your valance panels are nicked, scratched, or dented. Discoloring could also occur, more commonly on the rear valance rather than the front, due to exposure to exhaust fumes. In either case, signs of excessive wear should prompt you to have your valance repaired or replaced.
