The boost solenoid controls the opening and closing of the bypass valve, which regulates the amount of compressed air sent to the engine intake manifold. While the wastegate solenoid controls the opening and closing of the wastegate valve which bypasses exhaust gases around the turbine wheel. It regulates boost pressure.
