I bought this to replace my old steering rack on my 2000 4Runner SR5. Build quality was great and all the fluid ports, and the tie rod ends were capped off to protect the threads. steering shaft also had a rubber cap on it.
bushings were pre installed and looked secure. for 200 dollars, 2 days to ship to my door the experience was great.

Replaced my 1999 4runner's steering rack with this one. For under $200 with a coupon code, this new rack fits great, works great, does not leak. I've seen prices up to $750 for a rebuilt rack. If you're going to do-it-yourself, this piece seems a bargain.
It's early yet. I have 260k miles on the car. My seals had been leaking since I bought the car with 110k on it, and finally I had enough clunking from the driver's side inner tie rod end to justify R&R of the rack. I also took the opportunity to install polyethylene rack bushings ($20) instead of the rubber ones this rack comes with.
Only time will tell if the new rack, seals and tie rod ends last anywhere as long as the OEM Japanese ones; this rack is made in China. I'm hoping to get at least 150k out of it.
In the interim, the car steers like new, no slop, no shimmy. Great value.
The only reason I give only 4 stars is that for five stars, I need more miles driven to be fully impressed. Else, it's a five-star product thus far, especially for value.

This is a NEW not rebuilt rack. It looked very good and installed very easy on my 1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. The 2 inch body lift did help out by giving a lil more room to get to the steering shaft to loosen it. I did not need outer tie rod ends but I just could not replace all that and not go all the way and change everything !
