We have a Grand Marquis, an LR Disco II, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and just purchased a 2001 XJ Cherokee. The Cherokees are my favorites, but they "ride terrible"! Way too stiff for me, so I replaced all the shocks with basic Monroe Matics, and they ride like a Cadilac, (oh sorry, I should say a Chrysler 300 or something).
I tried the "Gas-Matic" but still way to stiff!! If you want your Cherokee to ride nice and smooth, the Monro-Matics are the ticket!
We are pulling classic military Jeep MBs and M38s with these Cherokees, both on and off trailers and they haul great, just as good as the Disco II as well, (which drives like a locamotive)!
If you want a smoother ride, but still have a safe, stable ride, the Monro-Matics are fine.

My Grand Cherokee was rolling and bouncing even after I replaced the worn factory shocks with discount store cheapies. I put these Monroes at all four corners and it was like night and day. My 1998 Jeep rides like new again. These were real economical with no tax and free shipping. I would highly reccommend these as a factory replacement.
