1. What would be my best option for a Jeep seat if I have toddlers? Should it be leather or cloth?

The better option would have to be leather since you have to deal with crumbs, milk spills, and all kinds of stains and dirt from food and drinks. It would be easier to clean leather seats and take care of smudges and dirt. Also, odors don’t get stuck with leather easily, which is not the case for cloth. Smokes and smells tend to get deep into the fibers and, as a result, may linger in the cabin. Leather doesn’t get easily soaked with liquid and stains, as opposed to cloth. However, leather seats are more expensive.

2. What’s the best way to spot-clean cloth seats? What would be the best cleaning tools or products?

You need to vacuum the seats to remove loose dirt. The cloth can be best cleaned using upholstery cleaner to help scrub away dirt more easily. The cleaner should be wiped off using a terrycloth towel and should be vacuumed afterwards. Be sure to keep the windows open for a couple of hours to allow air to dry out the interior.

3. I need some advice on cleaning my Jeep leather seats. I just switched to leather, and I’m not sure how I can best handle leather cleaning without ruining the material. Any good suggestion or solid advice?

You can get a spray and wipe kit for cleaning leather upholstery. You can get a leather cleaner and conditioner. Just be sure that the cleaning solutions you get will come from the same brand so that you can be sure that these solutions won’t have bad chemical reaction.

4. According to the guy from the store where I bought the my Jeep seat, all I need is to wipe the leather with a damp terrycloth to keep it clean. Will this be enough?

This will be good enough for spot cleaning. But if you want to take good care of the leather and maintain its good quality, it would be best to use a cleaner at least every month to wipe away excess dirt and moisture. Conditioning, on the other hand, can be done every couple of months to make sure that the material won’t get damaged easily because of cracking or hardening.

5. I’m using some leather cleaner for my Jeep seats, but after some time, I noticed some discoloration. What could I be doing wrong to ruin the leather instead of keeping it clean and in great shape?

You have to be sure that the product you’re using doesn’t contain harsh chemicals. As much as possible, you shouldn’t be mixing the cleaner with leather solutions such as conditioner from other manufacturers. You have to be sure that the chemicals or solutions will work well together. Also, you shouldn’t let the cleaner or any leather solution sit for too long, as this usually leads to damage such as discoloration. Wipe it off using a soft cloth. Also, avoid using too much pressure on the leather to avoid cracking.

6. I live in a place with extreme temperatures. In summer, it gets too hot, and in winter months, it does get too cold. What would be a great choice for me? Leather or cloth/fabric seats?

Fabric or cloth seats would be your best option since cloth doesn’t get hot or feel cold in case of temperature changes. Unlike leather, it isn’t too sensitive to temperature ranges. It will be a more practical choice, in this case.

7. I’m looking for brand-new Jeep seats, and I’m not sure if cloth/fabric would be the best option for me. What would be the best reason to get cloth seats?

Aside from the fact that they’re cheaper than leather seats, cloth seats also don’t get too hot or cold because of the temperature. They don’t require conditioning unlike leather. Plus, you get a wide range of options when it comes to material (canvas, polyester, denim, nylon, corduroy, or velour, for instance). With these choices, you can get seats with softer feel or a more plush texture or appearance, or you may settle with something simpler, more comfortable, and even rugged.
