Common Issues with the Suzuki Forenza Radiator

The Suzuki Forenza is a fairly new vehicle, but it doesn't mean that owners shouldn't worry about common car problems. Overheating is probably one problem that most drivers have already experienced, and the common faulty part that most folks would find would be the vehicle's radiator. Troubleshooting your Suzuki Forenza radiator is quite easy, so check out our guide for some of the most common problems and how to fix them.

Overheating

In general, overheating is the number one problem that you'll encounter when you've got a problem with your vehicle's radiator. So it's important that you get to narrow down the problem quick so you'll know if you can repair your radiator or would need to replace it entirely instead. Most of the time, a vehicle's radiator is perfectly fine and is instead suffering from low coolant levels. You'll simply need to fill up your radiator again, but if you spot a leak, then you have to plug that up fast or you'll just end up losing more coolant in the long run.

Rust

Your vehicle's radiator is made of metal, so it will accumulate rust over time. You could check the external part of the radiator for rust spots that you could easily clean with a brush. The portion inside your radiator would be hard to inspect, but once you spot brownish water, then you've got rust in there as well. Clean the insides of your radiator by having it flushed at least once a year in order to remove and then prevent further rust accumulation. Heavy rust accumulation would severely affect your radiator's efficiency and could even lead to leaks and early wear and tear.

Leaks

Any form of leak, whether it's from the tubes or in the radiator itself, would definitely lead to serious overheating problems. While leaks on hoses are easy to spot, holes in your radiator can be hard to find. If you suspect that your radiator has developed a hole or leak, then it's best to have a mechanic inspect it. Depending on the size of the hole, you could either have it patched up or have a mechanic work on fixing the hole. If your radiator is too badly damaged, then you simply have to replace it with a new one.

Your vehicle's radiator is mainly responsible for keeping your engine cool, so it's no mystery that once your radiator begins to wear out that overheating will surely occur. With proper maintenance and care, your car's radiator will not only perform better but would also definitely last longer. So below are some tips on how to take care of your Suzuki Forenza radiator.

Adequate coolant levels

Maintaining an adequate amount of coolant in your radiator is probably the easiest thing that you could do when it comes to radiator care. Apart from keeping a healthy level of coolant, you'd also want a proper ratio between coolant and water. Depending on the climate that you live in, you might want a mixture that's suitable to the temperatures in your area. For warmer climates an equal amount of water and coolant would be an ideal mix.

Check your radiator cap

Most people won't think much of the simple cap on top of the radiator, but you need to check on this every now and then as well. Worn out caps can allow pressure from the radiator to escape, which in turn would negatively affect the performance of the radiator and even lead to overheating. Simply replace it with a compatible replacement and you're good to go.

Draining and flushing

Your radiators would accumulate dirt and rust over time, so it's important to get it cleaned at least once a year. You can easily tell that your radiator needs cleaning when the fluid inside is already murky from rust build up. You don't even need to visit a mechanic as you could easily flush the radiator yourself at home. Just make sure that you refill it with the right ratio of coolant and water afterwards.

Radiator pressure test

For a better look at your vehicle's radiator, you'll want to have a mechanic perform a radiator pressure test. Small holes and other problems might not be visible to the naked eye, especially with all kinds of parts blocking your view of the radiator. Your mechanic will take out the radiator and perform a test on it to see if it needs to be repaired or replaced entirely.
