A:BEST ANSWERHi Mike, I'm pleased to assist you. The measurement where the radiator goes in is not listed in our database as this part is a direct-fit replacement for the selected vehicle applications. We do not suggest the method you have in mind as the radiator support is an integral component of the vehicle's frame. If you are going to weld it in the middle it will not have a solid structure. It would be best to get a direct-fit replacement for stability and safety. Can you send us another email with the year, make, model, and submodel (trim) of the vehicle so we can confidently recommend the right part? We look forward to your reply. Happy holidays from Carparts.com! Show less
