Product Questions & Answers

Q:Hello carparts.com, I have a 2004 Cadillac CTS-V with 88k miles. Lately when you start the car the oil light comes on and the message center says low oil pressure. It sounds like the lifters are making noise, however, drive for 2 blocks and all of the sudden lifter tic is gone and oil light goes out, and I have normal oil pressure. I know it has good oil in it but I have read the forums and they seam to think its a bad oil pressure switch? I wanted to get a second opinion from you guys. Thanks in advance Kris Show Less

A:BEST ANSWERHi, We highly recommend to have the vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic to pinpoint what part needs replacement. They are better to ask since they can physically check the vehicle. Show less

Where Is the Oil Pressure Switch Located? Pro Tip: Some newer engine platforms (Dodge/Jeep, in particular) have a three-wire oil pressure transducer that sends oil pressure information to the PCM. These typically won’t be mounted near the oil filter; some are mounted near the oil cooler.
