is this part also for backup lights?A shopperDec 10, 2020
Best Answer:Hi, The neutral safety switch is a safety device that only allows you to start your engine when the automatic transmission is in either Park or Neutral. The purpose of the neutral safety switch is to prevent the car from starting while in gear, which would cause it to launch forward unexpectedly. If the switch has no continuity when the car is in the park or neutral, your linkage is out of adjustment, or you have a faulty switch. In the “on” position, the switch allows current to flow from the pink wire (this is the 12-volt power source) to the backup lights when the gear selector is placed in reverse.
