W124 replacement mirrors
The rubber "cap" between the OEM mirrors on W124 chassis Mercedes and the door gets petrified and cracked over time. The replacement part from MB is well over $200. This is a very cost effective alternative. The fit and finish of these Made in Taiwan mirrors is virtually indistinguishable from the OES version at a fraction of the price. They even have the OES blue tint mirror glass. They are heated and work flawlessly with the remote control. The prongs on the driver's side five element plug are slightly less robust than the OEM plug-the only visible difference, aside from some raised lettering on the back of the driver's side mirror. Even the color of the wires is identical. The webpage picture shows two square mirrors, but the set are actually the proper rectangular driver's side and square passenger's side mirrors. The only downside is that you have to mask the mirrors and paint the backs. Universal auto parts store black rattle can paint and clear coat and 2000 grit sandpaper, rubbing compound and some elbow grease turned out a very nice match with my '93 black and gray 300D. It may (or may not) be possible to disassemble your OEM mirrors and these replacement mirrors and swap the painted backs. I didn't try this. The passenger's mirror's adjustment range does not adjust "up" as far as I would prefer, but it is acceptable.
