If you want to get some extra height on your truck/SUV and put in some bigger tires and wheels, you don’t always have to go to the extremes and modify the whole suspension. You can start small and see how the new stance will look on your ride and how it will affect the drive. And for that, a topnotch spindle may just be what you need. It’s easy to revert to stock with this option. You also won’t have to deal with the subframe hanging low. For this, we decided to give MaxTrac a try. After a few test drives, here’s what we think.

What’s good
- The spindle set by MaxTrac is definitely an upgrade to the factory spindles on our Toyota 2WD truck. It has a beefy design, with spindles constructed from heavy-duty ductile iron. We also appreciate the high-quality powdercoating to resist corrosion.
- We got the ground clearance we wanted with a 4-inch lift, and we were able to fit in bigger tires and wheels. We got the desired height without a hitch.
- What we liked about the spindles is that they didn’t alter the steering geometry, something that could be experienced from other spindles. Even with the 4-inch lift, there’s no compromise in handling and ride comfort.
- We didn’t have to cut or drill anything just to install the spindles. We just had to bolt them on.
- These can be used on both stock and modified suspension systems. We give them points for their flexibility.
What’s not
- The price isn’t out of range, but there are lower-priced spindles you can get from other more famous brands of suspension parts.
- We didn’t have to weld, cut, or drill anything, but we did some adjustments when bolting on. We made sure that the spindle won’t hit the lower control arm.
What we have to say
MaxTrac spindles definitely offers something better than stock. They give the vehicle more clearance while maintaining the factory ride quality and look of the stock, though taller. If you’re considering modifying the suspension, this is a good option for you to start with. From here, you may go for bigger suspension changes and upgrades. These spindles from MaxTrac are good products to try, but for those on a budget, you may consider other options that offer basically the same specs and benefits at a lower cost.
