You can’t expect your car to handle like a dream with a worn-out shock absorber and strut assembly. If you want to have a soft, smooth drive, then that part of the suspension should be fixed using the most reliable parts you can find at a budget you can afford. For that, we decided to give the MaxTrac shock absorber and strut assembly a try. We installed it on our Ford, which already has over 140,000 miles on it. Here’s our two cents on its performance overall.

What we love about it
- This suspension assembly is ready to install, making it a great option for DIYers. We’re able to bolt it on directly without too much hassle on our end. It fits perfectly and didn’t require any modification of sort.
- With its heavy-duty finish, corrosion wouldn’t probably be a problem even after a few years or after thousands of miles.
- There’s been a remarkable improvement in vehicle handling, though it took a few drives before we were able to really see the difference in ride quality. We no longer experienced body rolls, and it fixed other issues in our ride.
- The shock and strut assembly seems reliable enough. It doesn’t look or feel cheap like other lower-cost options.
- In terms of ride quality and passenger comfort, we can say that the new shock and strut assembly we installed did a good thing on our car. The drive felt smoother and more stable than before. And, it looked like this kind of performance is bound to last.
- It’s a good thing that this product is covered by a lifetime limited warranty from the manufacturer.
- This product offers good value for money, considering its quality, fast and safe assembly, and perfect fit.
What we don’t really like about it
- We heard some noise that seems to be coming from the strut during the initial test drives, but this went away after some time. The ride wasn’t that smooth from the start, but it eventually became stable.
- We really can’t say that this is way better than brand-new stock. If there’s any huge difference than the original shock and strut assembly, we didn’t notice it right away. It performed well, but we can’t say that it went the extra mile in terms of performance.
- It has a good price, given its quality, but we can’t say that it can compete head to head with the top-selling products from the best car suspension brands.
What we have to say
For its price, decent performance, great fit, and good enough quality, we can say that the MaxTrac shock absorber and strut assembly is a good option. This is best for DIYers and daily drivers. It gives you what you need. However, it doesn’t exactly exceed your expectations or go beyond the limits.
