This is the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor. The engine electronic control unit (ECU) uses the signal from the sensor to measure changes in intake manifold pressure. Depending on the vehicle, the ECU may use that data to adjust fuel delivery, ignition timing, EGR operation or all three parameters.
