Best Answer:Hello! It does sound like the microswitch in the actuator that indicates the hatch is closed has failed.

We cannot lock the rear hatch on our 2006 Chevy Trailblazer LS. When we shut the rear hatch, you can hear the locking mechanism actuate but it don't lock the hatch or window.

Best Answer:I had the same issue with my vehicle. You could hear the the latch actuate but it did not lock. The problem was fixed by replacing the mechanism. The design of the area where the latch is allow dirt and moisture to get into the mechanism and it gets stiff and/or rusted which makes the mechanism stick and not work. Replacing the mechanism is pretty easy if you have good mechanical skills, be carefull when removing the plastic cover on the back door. Don’t force anything . There are screws that need to come out before the cover pops off. Look up replacing the mechanism on YouTube.
