A:BEST ANSWERHi Sebastien,
The intake air temperature (IAT) sensor, otherwise known as the air charge temperature sensor, is used by the powertrain control module (PCM) to determine the temperature (and therefore the density) of air entering the engine. Typically, the PCM sends a 5-volt reference to the IAT sensor. The IAT sensor then varies its internal resistance according to air temperature and sends a return signal back to the PCM. The PCM then uses this formation to determine fuel injector control and other outputs.
A bad IAT sensor can cause all kinds of drivability problems including a rough idle, surging, stalling, and poor fuel economy(excerpt from our technical database).
Still, it is best to consult and have your vehicle checked by your trusted local auto repair shop in troubleshooting the problem accurately without overlooking other issues. Show less

P2199 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 CorrelationThe diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2199 indicates “Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 Correlation.”
The PCM will log a P2199 code if it detects a large discrepancy between the voltage signals sent by different IAT sensors.
P0111 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range / Performance (Bank 1)The sensor 1 portion of the code applies to vehicles that have multiple IAT sensors. Bank 1 points to the side of the engine opposite the #1 cylinder.
