Product Questions & Answers

Q:where is this sensor located?
A shopper
A:BEST ANSWERHi, The IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor measures the air temperature that is going into your intake manifold. This sensor is usually located in the air intake boot, but it may also be located in the air cleaner housing or intake manifold. Show less

Q:My 1999 Ford Escort SE Sport ,5 speed Manual trans, 2.0 ltr single over head cam, issue ....using more fuel.....147,087 miles ..just installed new plugs & wires ,(all Motor raft)regular oil change( Royal Purple HPS 5w30 also for high mileage),Motorcraft engine air filter,  steady idle, great acceleration,no hesitation,......using too much fuel....I drive safely,  no racing, speeding, fast " takeoffs",......no gas odor, no " rotten eggs" odor .....did have catalytic converter checked as seems louder, exhaust specialist said cat converter's inside material probably finally burnt away, gone .empty inside,... ..said this may affect gas consumption. ?.. not running AC as system not working..leak in evaporator core ,sothat is not a point of using gas.. I regularly add fuel system cleaner / injection cleaner .. Techron or Royal Purple.. sooo any ideas.   Btw the Michelin Defender tires are 3 yrs old, 6 / 32  tread left, proper air pressure, balanced, . . Thanks for your time.      Robert Chestone,, , I live in Oakland Park ,FL....... I regularly use Exxon/Mobil  gas ,regular. Show Less

P2199 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 Correlation
P2199 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 CorrelationVehicles have more than one intake air temperature sensor, and their location may vary depending on the vehicle’s manufacturer. Most IAT sensors can be found in the air intake pipe or air filter housing. A different design is built into the housing of the mass air flow sensor.
P0110 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1)
P0110 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1)The IAT sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor that decreases in resistance as the temperature of the sensor increases. Its purpose is to measure the temperature of the air entering the engine and provide this data to the PCM.

8 of the Most Important Car Sensors You Should Know AboutAs a driver, you must know what these sensors are and how they contribute to your vehicle’s performance. Here are some of the most common car sensors you should know about. Oxygen Sensor The oxygen (O2) sensor measures the exhaust’s oxygen content.
P0111 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range / Performance (Bank 1)
P0111 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range / Performance (Bank 1)The IAT sensor is a thermistor. Its resistance decreases as its temperature increases. As the temperature rises, the sensor becomes more electrically conductive. It is usually a two-wire sensor that has one wire supplying voltage to the PCM, while the other is a ground.
P0097 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) Sensor 2 Circuit Low (Bank 1)
P0097 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) Sensor 2 Circuit Low (Bank 1)To be specific, this code may be logged once the PCM detects that the air temperature reading in sensor #2 is unusually high (causing low voltage resistance) when the engine temperature is low. Bank 1 refers to the side of the engine that contains the #1 cylinder. Code P0097 may
