Q:Sensor make the car cut off if sensor go bad?

A:BEST ANSWERHi Tracy, I'm pleased to assist you. Though your engine will run okay, it will not run as well as it should, with a bad IAT Sensor. The engine computer cannot process all the needed information properly. There would be engine stalling, rough idling, engine stumbling, and random surges of power are commonly associated with IAT sensor failure. These are concerning symptoms, and they can only worsen with time. It is best to replace the part early on to not affect any other parts. Most IAT sensors can be found in the air intake pipe or air filter housing. A different design is built into the housing of the mass air flow sensor.
P0110 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1)The IAT sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor that decreases in resistance as the temperature of the sensor increases. As the temperature rises, the sensor becomes more electrically conductive. It is usually a two-wire sensor that has one wire supplying voltage to the PCM, while the other is a ground.
P0097 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) Sensor 2 Circuit Low (Bank 1)To be specific, this code may be logged once the PCM detects that the air temperature reading in sensor #2 is unusually high (causing low voltage resistance) when the engine temperature is low. Bank 1 refers to the side of the engine that contains the #1 cylinder.
