Q:Can you tell me where this sensor is located on my 93 ford Ranger xlt 4.0?  I have searched internet for days and can find no conclusive information. #AX3 Show Less

A:BEST ANSWERI just helped my husband diagnose our faulty IAT Sensor so I like researching and found a couple things to look at. But, boy, that '93 is a tough one to find anything on. Anyway here's something with the hopes it might help: The IAT is inside the air intake duct between the housing and the throttle body. Motorcraft dot com shows thread in type IAT sensors for the 1993 Rangers , so the sensor is threaded into the upper area of the intake manifold . I know on the 4.0 L OHV engine it is on the drivers side. On my 1993 Ranger XLT 3.0L the IAT sensor is in the air cleaner chamber just below the air filter. It comes out by turning it 1/4 turn CCW. Resistance values of mine are: 85K @ 0 degrees F 33K @72 degrees F Show less

Q:where is this sensor located?
A shopper
A:BEST ANSWERHi, The IAT (Intake Air Temperature) sensor measures the air temperature that is going into your intake manifold. This sensor is usually located in the air intake boot, but it may also be located in the air cleaner housing or intake manifold. Show less

P2199 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 Correlation
P2199 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1/2 CorrelationVehicles have more than one intake air temperature sensor, and their location may vary depending on the vehicle’s manufacturer. Most IAT sensors can be found in the air intake pipe or air filter housing. A different design is built into the housing of the mass air flow sensor.
P0110 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1)
P0110 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1)The IAT sensor is a negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor that decreases in resistance as the temperature of the sensor increases. Its purpose is to measure the temperature of the air entering the engine and provide this data to the PCM.
8 of the Most Important Car Sensors You Should Know About
8 of the Most Important Car Sensors You Should Know AboutAs a driver, you must know what these sensors are and how they contribute to your vehicle’s performance. Here are some of the most common car sensors you should know about. Oxygen Sensor The oxygen (O2) sensor measures the exhaust’s oxygen content.
P0111 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range / Performance (Bank 1)
P0111 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Range / Performance (Bank 1)The IAT sensor is a thermistor. Its resistance decreases as its temperature increases. As the temperature rises, the sensor becomes more electrically conductive. It is usually a two-wire sensor that has one wire supplying voltage to the PCM, while the other is a ground.
P0097 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) Sensor 2 Circuit Low (Bank 1)
P0097 Code: Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) Sensor 2 Circuit Low (Bank 1)To be specific, this code may be logged once the PCM detects that the air temperature reading in sensor #2 is unusually high (causing low voltage resistance) when the engine temperature is low. Bank 1 refers to the side of the engine that contains the #1 cylinder. Code P0097 may
