This term is informal and primarily used in older vehicles, typically from the 1960s-1980s, when stricter emission regulations were introduced. It refers to an exhaust manifold equipped with additional features designed to reduce emissions and additional features such as air injection ports or fittings for mounting air injection or smog pump tubes to aid in emissions control.
