Actually other people use a garbage bin, the big hard plastic one to hold off or support the door and no need to remove it from that exact location. Part I needed and easy install for 2015 GMC Acadia
Pretty simple install for my 2015 GMC Acadia. Installed on the front driver door and we did have to remove the door in order to remove the old hinge and install this new hinge, but with a 2nd pair of hands to assist in removing the door it was a pretty easy job. It might be possible to replace on a rear door without having to remove the entire door because you can access the backside of the hinge where the bolts are located for the rear door if the front door is also open, but I only replaced the front door hinge.
The Door hinge has been working well for the past few months since installing. Only downfall is that it is chrome and does not match the other door hinges that are painted to match the frame/inside of the door, but you only notice it when the door is open. I still give it a 5 star because it was the exact part I needed, was easy to install, has been holding up great so far after a few months of use and I'm sure saved me hundreds of dollars in labor and upcharges if I had taken it to a shop to be replaced.
