Works, but has quality control issues.
Works, after some refining. Upon opening, I initially liked the look and feel of the door handles, they look and feel just like the originals. However I ended up with two issues. 1) Placed the door handle in the van easily, only to find the mounting screws wouldn’t thread into the holes. The threads of both the bolt holes in the unit had to be re-cut using a tap before the screws would work. Aggravating, but I have a friend with a tap set. 2) After the first insertion of the key into the keyhole, the little door that keeps out dust and weather wouldn’t close anymore. So now it will allow rain and everything else in. This door handle got the job done, significantly cheaper than I would have paid for genuine VW parts. But the difference in quality is very evident. Be ready for some extra work to get this part to fit. I did not contact Carparts.com about this issue, figured I’d send in a review and see how it goes. I’ll update later if there are changes.
