Customer Reviews

I ordered the part (front upper strut mounts) because a VW dealership said that it needs to be replaced. I brought my VW Beetle to AAMCO for a second opinion and they said the the part is still very good. So I decided not to have it replaced, but I am keeping the part since it is really not that expensive ($40 for the pair). The VW dealership wanted $600 to have it replaced. Go figure.

Once assembled, do not take apart the strut again, or the bearing/washer unit will fall apart. The plastic lips deform if you tighten the nut hard and release the bearing balls. As long as the unit is locked and torqued properly, everything stays in place . The moment you re-release the assembly, the bearing unit snaps open and the balls fall off. It is my guess that that particular bearing cap was defective. Since they are warranted unlimited for a year, you can not go wrong.
