Customer Reviews

No problem installing, bolts right up. The protective foam on the ends was a pain to remove. Had the gaskets, but no bolts\nuts as promised.

If you have basic mechanical abilities you can probably do this. Read the other reviews, a couple had really good tips that I used, none that I read had bad advice. I used Kroil and sprayed the studs and flange bolts every night for a week (Monday to Friday). Use a 6 point socket so you don't strip a nut and give it a good quick jerk - less twisting motion and it breaks it loose. If it's too stuck - you won't break it, it just won't move. Took a few good jerks to break them loose. The flange bolts at the end were a bit more difficult since they were rusted so bad. An air chisel and angle grinder come in handy. For the O2 sensor, a 10" cresent wrench actually did the best for me. I started to round the nut with a wrench, but I put the crescent wrench on (and got it good and tight on the nut) and then put the two foot handle from a bumper jack on the end of it and gave it a good "jerk" and it popped loose. I had also sprayed it for the week with kroil too. The heat shields don't fit great, but they're flexible so with some longer bolts you can make them work. The holes on the converter didn't line up perfectly, but I put the font on - put those nuts just on enough to hold them, then with a lot of pushing got the middle lined up and slid over the studs. The back seemed a bit off but with some longer bolts and a good ratchet it all pulls together. The gaskets they sent were bent horrible, but one parts store had them and auto warehouse reimbursed me (a couple said they were "dealer only" gaskets - bull, just keep searching and take your old ones in - you can match them up). I also used a bit of ultra copper max temp permatex and let it cure 24 hrs before starting (it's hard to wait - but unless you do you might as well not use it). The company says not to, but I used just a little on the front two flanges and the back muffler flange was so rusted I kind of had to. Good stuff, it works. Just be patient, spray the studs, make sure your tools fit and don't expect to do it in an hour. And for goodness sakes, use good jack stands, we just had a kid suffer horribly in my area when a car fell on him. This part saved me a good $700 on what the shop wanted and I never had an engine light come on after breaking it in according to the supplied instructions.

Who would have thought that our Sienna van purchased new near Pittsburgh, PA would have California emissions? We only discovered this after this cat converter 40369 would not fit and we were directed to check under the hood for a decal that stated that the van had California emissions. We reordered 40395 and it fit fine. The note in the product description: "49-state legal; Not for sale or use in California; Cannot be shipped to California addresses", lead me to believe that I was ordering the correct part. Live and learn.
