As on the Toyota Avalon, Hoods which stay up automatically will eventually need a Lift Support, due to wear.
I recommend that you replace both Sides.
On the Toyota Avalon, the old ones are easy to remove and the new ones easy to install. About a 15 Minute Job Total.
