Overheating issues in a 2008 Nissan xterra. Does someone make a bigger radiator to cool engine better?shaun r.Nov 04, 2020
Best Answer:Hi Shaun, You may check with local automotive stores for aftermarket performance radiators that can fit the 2008 Xterra. We also highly recommend to have the vehicle diagnosed by a certified mechanic to pinpoint what causes the overheating and recommend what part needs replacement.

GPD radiator for 2009 Nissan Pathfinder SE
Generally, I am quite pleased with this GPD radiator for my 2009 Pathfinder. Only reason for 4 vs 5 star is a minor fitment issue with the way the electric fan mount fits into the tabs on the radiator. There are two tabs on the fan bracket that slide into mating connectors on the bottom of the radiator. The fan is then supposed to secure to the top of the radiator with a third tab and single screw. The existing hole on the fan bracket did not line up well with the top radiator mount. The fan bracket hole was both higher and slightly left of the mating radiator mount. After confirming that the two tabs on the bottom were fully inserted, I ended up having to elongate the hole on the top fan bracket tab to get the screw hole to line up. Otherwise, everything else fit up very well. Shipping was very quick to my area and arrived days earlier than originally anticipated. Packaging was also very good, box was sturdy with no exterior damage, and radiator was well supported by firm molded foam at each of the four corners. There was no damage to either the radiator fins or the two transmission line connections. Very well done GPD packaging department. After install, fill with coolant and transmission fluid, and test drive, there were no signs of any leakage and continues to be leak free after 4 days of use. My 2009 Pathfinder only has 84 k miles and has not had the dreaded transmission cooler failure inside the factory radiator....my coolant looked great, and trans oil looked good as well. My local dealer, though, advised that the trans cooler failure still occurs even in the 2009's and it's not a matter of if, just when it would eventually fail. I've been concerned with this for some time and finally bought the new GPD radiator just for peace of mind.
