Best Answer:Hi Mike, I'm glad to assist you. It is pre-filled with oil. But manufacturers recommend that you drain the "shipping oil" and refill with "proper PAG oil" (and standard amount) upon installation. The other purpose of the added oil is to protect the compressor during its stay on the dealer's shelves, retailers' stores, and in the course of transport. Once installed on your vehicle, that is when you will start to begin the a/c charging process. Have it done by a certified mechanic or by your trusted local repair shop.
