Installed on my 2000 forester S model, hardest part is getting the old one off, used dremel and angle grinders, takes quite a while but worth it, as the car has 130k miles and the dealership wants over $2000 for the parts and labor. Gets it through the inspections and keeps it on the road. Used the same eastern catalytic brand with my 1999 subaru legacy sedan , which helped me keep it on the road for over 320k miles before retiring it.

Awkward fit this time
I have had great success with the Eastern cats in the past. This one had one flange that was slightly rotated. That made it a bit of a bugger to install.

Purchased on May 15, 2017
Needed to replace the cat on my Subaru Impreza around 150k miles. Didn't want to spend more money than necessary on an older car, so I bought one of these. Over three years, I had THREE of these catalytic converters fail (CEL, broken catalyst, plugged exhaust), each starting to fail within months (if not weeks) of installing. Fortunately, Eastern Catalytic covered the first two as a warranty, so I'll give them that. However, they wouldn't cover the last one, even though I reported that it was failing TWO WEEKS after I had it installed! They said that there was evidence of fuel burning in the catalyst (even though I had a fuel trim test done). Any car that needs a new catalytic converter has a lot of miles and is not going to run perfectly, short of rebuilding the engine. I had it installed professionally each time, and each time it was broken in per the instructions. After the last failure, I bought a Walker catalytic converter at the recommendation of a mechanic friend. I've been running it for over three years now on the same car with no work and have not had one problem. Save yourself the hassle and don't buy one of these.
