Not an Exact Fit Cat
Did not fit my Forester. Overall length was 3/4" shorter than original cat assembly, but more importantly the center support bracket was nearly an inch too far forward to match up to the mount on the car. I was also concerned with the minimal amount of heat shielding, particularly on the forward cat, since the front part of the assembly is directly underneath the transmission. Additionally, while the assembly mates ok to the exhaust manifold, the larger size of the forward flange compared to the manifold flange makes precise alignment trickier than if the outer dimensions were the same and flush. This forward and rear cat assembly is significantly lighter than the original, even with the original's extensive heat shielding removed. As others have said, none of the old heat shielding can be used. I tried.
I cannot comment on performance since the center support bracket location was a show stopper for me.

Awkward fit this time
I have had great success with the Eastern cats in the past. This one had one flange that was slightly rotated. That made it a bit of a bugger to install.

Needed to replace the cat on my Subaru Impreza around 150k miles. Didn't want to spend more money than necessary on an older car, so I bought one of these. Over three years, I had THREE of these catalytic converters fail (CEL, broken catalyst, plugged exhaust), each starting to fail within months (if not weeks) of installing. Fortunately, Eastern Catalytic covered the first two as a warranty, so I'll give them that. However, they wouldn't cover the last one, even though I reported that it was failing TWO WEEKS after I had it installed! They said that there was evidence of fuel burning in the catalyst (even though I had a fuel trim test done). Any car that needs a new catalytic converter has a lot of miles and is not going to run perfectly, short of rebuilding the engine. I had it installed professionally each time, and each time it was broken in per the instructions. After the last failure, I bought a Walker catalytic converter at the recommendation of a mechanic friend. I've been running it for over three years now on the same car with no work and have not had one problem. Save yourself the hassle and don't buy one of these.
