i have a 66 Fairlane 4sp top loader with a worked over 302. i am looking for fact or fiction. i get clutch drag  at 5-6000 rpm. can not pull it out of 1st gear. i am told it is the diaphragm type clutch with weights that is the problem. shifting is fine till the higher rpms. what do you think?lamont g.Jun 02, 2021
Best Answer:Hello! It's possible that a worn diaphragm spring is the reason why your clutch isn't fully disengaging, although I would suspect you to also have slipping issues if that were the case. It's more likely that there is a hydraulic or travel issue in the release bearing
