Bought this for my 2018 Chevrolet Malibu LT 4 Cyl 1.5L. It doesn't fit. My current gas fill opening doesn't have a cap. It's just one of those little gates with a spring on it. There are no threads onto which you would screw this locking cap into place. What am I missing? Why doesn't this work?

Best Answer:Hi Wayne, I'm happy to assist you. To unlock this item, turn the key 1/4 counterclockwise, then back and remove the key. Unscrew the cap counterclockwise. The instruction is also printed on the cap. I originally ordered a tethered gas cap that was locking and non-threaded for my 2000 Ford F-150 "Harley Davidson" model with a 5.4L engine. I was sent a locking threaded gas cap. Before I even receive a refund I ordered another gas cap with the hope of receiving one that would accept the existing tether. But I received a cap (ST10502) that does not accept the tether.
