Best Answer:Hi Elaine, A P0420 code indicates a problem with the catalytic converter. One oxygen sensor is positioned in front (upstream) of the catalytic converter and the other O2 sensor is positioned at the rear (downstream). Please check the Vehicle Emission Control Information sticker usually found underneath the hood of the car to make sure the catalytic converter matches the car's Emission label specifications.
