Yes where is this sensor locked and what is its function? 1994 f250 XL 4x4 7.3 L idi non-turbo AEOD trans. Im having problems shifting out of first gear. It will shift manuely. Already changed out the one on rear axle. Oh yes and my speedometer is jumpy. Thank you in advance.El MisterMar 30, 2021
Best Answer:Hi, I'm glad to help you out. This item is usually located on the transmission. The automatic transmission speed sensors calculate the actual gear ratio of the transmission while in use. The input and output transmission speed sensors, also commonly referred to as vehicle speed sensors (VSS), send data to the powertrain control module (PCM), which compares these two inputs and calculates which gear the transmission should engage for efficient driving. The actual gear ratio is then compared to the desired gear ratio. If the desired gear and the actual gear do not match, then the PCM will set a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) and illuminate the Check Engine Light. I hope this helps. Happy shopping.
