Best Answer:Hi Rich, I'm glad to help you out. This part does not need to be programmed not unless you have an anti-theft system. The keys will work only with the cylinder and will not work for the doors and trunk. Luke has given step-by-step instructions on how to install this part. I hope this helps. Very easy install on my 92 300D w124. Worst part was getting the old one out. Ignition works great now except after shutting off the car it sticks a little pulling the key out but I might have not installed it perfectly. Overall very easy and cheap fix to an annoying problem. Definitely do it sooner than later because mine was locking up bad. I thought by the time I got the new ignition I might not be able to turn the key to the second position to remove the ignition. Just use lots of lube.
