how do you take the old one out ?A shopperJun 11, 2020
Best Answer:First disconnect the battery, then turn the key to "ON" position. use a thin screwdriver to press and hold the button mentioned below. while pulling the key and cylinder as one. There might be 3 holes. 2 will have screws in them. The other is for the button. It's slightly different size hole then the others. New cylinder will be also be put in while in the "ON" position. Just press in till it clicks into place. Turn off, reconnect battery. And your done.

I have 2003 f250 super duty 6.0 diesel. When I install this key switch on column in what order do I unhook battery cables. And do I have to unhook neg and post. Or just neg? I have 2 batteries. I'm sure u know that thanksWildbillAug 17, 2024
Best Answer:Hi Bill, I'm glad to assist you. Disconnect the negative terminal on the first battery. This will isolate the electrical system and prevent any current from flowing. Although you have two batteries, disconnecting both negative terminals is generally sufficient. You can now proceed to install the ignition lock cylinder. How do I know if my key has a transponder?Linda Z.Feb 23, 2024
Best Answer:Hi Linda, I'm glad to assist you. First and foremost, check your vehicle's owner's manual if you have a transponder key or not (anti-theft or not). Most often, these keys can be recognized because the plastic bow where you would normally hold the key is thicker than the typical flat key. But fat plastic keys and thin metal keys may both contain a transponder chip. For us to double-check carefully and be accurate on the part you need, please provide the complete details of your vehicle (year, make, model, submodel, 2WD/4WD, and engine size). The VIN would be helpful. You can also call our parts specialist on our toll-free number, 1-866-529-0412.

Ignition Lock Cylinder, For Models Without Transponder Key
The ignition seems to be of good quality. I don't know why they need to get you for 2 for 20. 1for 10 would be better.
I got the parts in about a week they were the right parts. I had to drill the old tumbler out but the new one fit like a glove. It was running in minutes.
