Should both wires be hot?Allen G.May 23, 2023
Best Answer:Hi Allen, Typically, the ignition coil connector has two wires: The positive wire (+): This wire comes from the ignition switch and should be hot or have power when the ignition is in the "on" position or in the "start" position. The negative wire (-): This wire is controlled by the ignition control module or the engine control unit (ECU). This wire will be grounded (pulsed to ground) to collapse the magnetic field in the coil and create the spark. It shouldn't be "hot" in the same sense as the positive wire. Therefore, only the positive wire (+) should have power when the ignition key is turned to the on position. Remember that testing electrical circuits can be dangerous if you know what you’re doing, so it’s best to consult a professional if you need more clarification.

Customer Reviews

Perfect match to my vehicle's ignition coil adapters. Great quality material and the shrink connectors were a plus. Wire were long enough for any application.
