Inoperative Door Lock 2000 Sienna
I purchased this passenger inside door handle and a new trim piece. After installing handle (requires removing door panel) and before putting back the trim piece, it worked fine: door opened, locked, unlocked easily both electrically and manually. I installed the new trim plate and the lock lever became difficult to move. The "auto" electric door lock lever would occasionally unlock, but never would lock the door. I removed the trim plate and it worked perfectly. Tried the original (cracked) trim plate and it caused the same lock/unlock problem. The trim piece when installed seems to be causing just enough friction to keep the electric lock mechanism from working properly. Since the (cracked) factory trim piece causes the same problem, I assume the issue is with the handle and not the trim piece. I suppose I could have dry fitted the trim piece before installing the handle and perhaps discovered the problem then? I am now driving around without the trim piece installed, at least I can lock the door. I spent a little more money and purchased the Dorman thinking it would be better quality... Disappointed!
